Artists on the Block & 100 Proof Press

This November the design teams of 100 Proof Press and The Artists on Block are teaming up to inspire you to "explore YOUR creative style in 3-D."  We are doing a month-long block hop filled with fanstascitly crafty ideas.  There are several wonderful artists with their own unique style involved with this hop so you're sure to find something that strikes a creative chord. Be sure to like both 100 Proof Press and The Artists on the Block to keep up with our month-long dose of stamped 3 dimensional creativity.

To start things off I'm going to share with you a block tower made by Joy Holder Northrop.  Joy works her whimsical creations up in Michigan, and has an Etsy shop, autumnsensation, where she sells her artwork.  I have always enjoyed Joy's playful sense of humor that shines through in her artwork.  So, let's take a look at Joy's brilliant tower…

Artist Trading Blocks were new to me. I didn’t have the first idea about how to design them but a quick Pinterest search saved the day. I saw what other people had done with them and many were eye-popping incredible!

Since I had four different sizes I decided to stack them.  Each of my blocks are different but I gave them a cohesive look by sticking with a neutral palette of sepia, white and black.

I used layers of vintage paper, metal embellishments, lace, crocheted flowers, washi tape and more. I also used a little modeling paste for texture in a few spots as well as tiny gold gems for added interest.
